[...] I would contend that the answer to the question, “Is the customer always right”, is no, but they THINK they are. The secret to the successful care and feeding of customers lies not in always ceding absolute “rightness” in every situation but rather in understanding thoroughly WHY the customer FEELS they are right. Only from gaining a complete understanding of the customer’s perspective can we apply solutions that are win/win solutions for both organizations.
This was a very interesting read - certainly gave me some food for thought. I have to agree with you in the fact that customer loyalty is definitely not dead. On the contrary it is alive and kicking, so to speak, but one does not come by it very easily. To reach a place of true customer loyalty with one's customers takes a great deal of hard work and ingenuity. One creative solution that I found a few days ago is provided by MiCalendar (http://micalendar.ca/online-calendar-builder.html ) with their system, you add a link to your website that enables your customers to build their own personalized calendars, that is branded by your company. This pleases your customers and gets the word out about your company.
I think that this is the time to get creative!
